Description: This fly speaks for it's self and is effective on bass or trout. Hellgrammite nymphs are a popular fly to fish and can be found in various locations throughout Central and North America. This nymph has even worked on waters that do not house them. Many trout have been caught on this fly on the South Fork of the Snake River in Idaho and on the Madison River in Montana.
What it imitates: Hellgrammite nymph
When to fish it: Pretty much any time, but late spring to early summer is when most hellgrammites begin to find their way on to land so they can begin to pupate. It is during this time movement phase that they are most active and fish key in on them.
Where to fish it: Any body of water with trout or bass
How to fish to it: Cast up stream and bounce on the bottom then raise the nymph at the end of the drift. Make sure to use movement with this nymph like that of the natural. If you like violent takes this is the nymph to fish.
