Description: The Vertical Emerger imitates many of the emerging nymphs in lakes, rivers and streams. It's design makes it sit upright in the water; making it look like its moving toward the surface and the materials used give the "life" to fly. Mayfly nymphs emerge in one of three methods, so the type of hatch that is occurring will determine how you fish this fly.
What it imitates: Large Mayfly nymphs
When to fish it: During a Mayfly hatch
Where to fish it: Rivers, streams and lakes
How to fish it: Baetis, PMDs, and Sulphurs emerge just under, or more commonly, in the surface film, so dead drift just under the surface;March Browns and Quill Gordons emerge underwater and rise to the surface as duns, so a swing method works best;
and for Isonychia and Siphlonurus (both swimmer-type mayflies), a swing method is also preferred.
Approximate time to complete this order: 7 - 10 days
