Description: The Beadhead Steelie Pheasant Tail is a great imitation of a Stonefly or Mayfly nymph. The beadhead helps get it down quickly and the "glow" effect makes if very attractive to fish. I incorporate Pheasant tail dyed black, with "Hot Colored" ultra wire for the ribbing and a thorax of Catus Chenille or mini-Eztas matching the color of the ribbing wire. The bead heads I use are either Nymph-Head Tungsten or Real Fly Color Beads™for extra weight and attractiveness. The wing case is topped off with epoxy to give the fly a translucent effect, making the thorax "glow" under water.
Bead selection: Orange, Red and Pink versions come with a Real Fly Color Bead™ only. All other color versions come with either a Nymph-Head Tungsten bead or a Real Fly Color Bead™ head. If you have a preference, please indicate at the time of ordering in the "Notes" section.
I tye this fly on a standard wet fly- 2X heavy hook.
