Joel La Follette - Tier - Presenter

Joel La Fallette

Joel La Follette learned the art of fly-fishing in the cool pine forest along the banks of Oregon’s Metolius River at the ripe old age of 9. His grandfather had brought him there to share some of the joys of his childhood fishing that same stream. Since that first outing Joel has fished the wilds of Belize, Mexico, the Bahamas, Venezuela and Christmas Island for Bonefish, Tarpon, Permit, Trevalley and other saltwater fishes. He’s traveled the Northeast for Brookies, Browns and Stripers. In the South he’s tried his luck with Redfish and giant Tarpon. Up north he’s chased big BC Steelhead, but the Metolius, Deschutes and North Umpqua rivers in Oregon are his home waters.

An accomplished fly tyer, a skill again taught him by his grandfather, he has created several steelhead and saltwater patterns highly prized and sought after. We are very fortunate to be able to offer you some of Joel’s finest and most productive flies. A bit of a traditionalist, his steelhead patterns reflect an Atlantic Salmon influence and are void of the modern flashy materials while his saltwater patterns are more influenced by the fish he pursues. His tying skills have been featured in Lani Waller’s latest work “A Steelheaders Way” as well as other fly fishing periodicals.

As the owner of RoyalTreatmentFlyFishing.com, Joel is available for club presentations, private lessons and tying clinics. Joel and his wife Kellie live in West Linn in a home they’ve named Woodsprite Lodge. They share their tree top view with a variety of birds, squirrels and other woodsy creatures.
