Rick Schlarb - Tier

Rick Schlarb currently lives in Pennsylvania, and is a Signature Fly Designer for Umpqua Feather Merchants, ties for a couple of outfitters and for Project Healing Waters.  He has fished most of his life and has had the good fortune to fish from Alaska to Belize with many waters in between.  Having had the opportunity to fish and tie for both salt and fresh water species, Rick’s passion is designing and fishing soft hackles and small flies  for LARGE trout that live in small streams, limestone creeks, rivers and lakes.

His patterns are based on traditional soft hackle tying techniques using natural materials and incorporating modern tying materials in such a way to make each fly highly productive and durable.  A lot of his inspiration comes from his 8 year old who brings him “critters” and asks him to replicate them as flies.  Something he loves doing.

The patterns Rick offers on MyFlies are personally tied and tested by him and are versatile enough to be fished north, east, south and west.
