Ty is a man driven in the pursuit of quality. As the quality manager of a precision sheet metal shop, Ty is responsible to ensure customers receive only the finest quality fabricated metal components. This same level of quality carries over into two of his passions; fly fishing for trout and the artistry of fly tying.
When Ty is not remodeling his old family, handed down, fishing lodge, located in south-western Maine, into his year round residency, he can be found somewhere in the state of Maine fly-fishing. He is also a contributing author for several outdoor publications.
A favorite haunt of his is the Penobscot River, located in Northern Maine. Here, Ty designed the Pearl Charm, a very popular and productive fly that is a constant with his inner circle of friends. It is rumored, they have threatened Ty with bodily harm if he ever decided to sell it to the general public, but throwing caution to the wind, Ty decided it was much to special of a fly to keep hidden away and is offering it for sale here on MyFlies.
Several of Ty’s flies have been born on the streams and rivers of Southern Maine which eventually twist and turn and find their way to the Atlantic Ocean. It is within these rivers and streams that Sea-Run Brookies and Browns grow large on an unending supply of shrimp and other abundant foods; thus making fly fishing for them a very rewarding endeavor. Because these fish can be very finicky at times, special detail, top quality materials and a keen eye on what evokes a fish to strike has been put into the development of each of Ty’s flies.
If you plan on fishing the Northeast, especially Main, you owe it to yourself to try Ty’s flies. They are limited in quantity and when they are gone, they are gone.
