Description: How about a durable, visible emerger that will work from the early hatches through early fall? From the antron tail to the CDC wings, the Brown Beacon is a buoyant fly that represents both emergers and cripples to trout and they can't resist them! Use it during the Hendrickson and March Brown hatches in the spring, then turn it loose when the brown caddis come off. Finally, use it through fall when the (Mayfly) Isonychia are emerging. This fly will become your "Adams" for all emergers, working well in multiple situations.
What it imitates: March Brown, Hendrickson,(Mayfly) Isonychia and Brown Caddis
When to fish it: March through September
Where to fish it: Freestone streams and rivers as well as spring fed lakes
How to fish it: Hendrickson and March Brown imitations should be fished dead drifted through the riffles and at the bottom of tailouts. Fish it by itself or as a dropper. Later in the summer, use this as a caddis fly imitation, simply greasing the body and skating it down and across. Twitching this fly is very effective as well as skittering it across the surface film. The strikes on this emerger are forceful and violent.
