Tier's Note: I spent about 10 years living and fishing in Florida. My father-in-law and I used to fish for Redfish and Speckled Trout in St. Augustine Inlet and Matanzas Creek . The preferred bait was live shrimp. I wanted to try my luck with my fly rod and I needed a good shrimp pattern. I came up with several flies that covered any occasion from inshore to flats fishing. My collectable realistic Shrimp was born from the fishing patterns I used in the sunshine state.
The Grass Shrimp has a segmented shell made out acrylic plates with realistic swimmerets on the underside of the tail. Its tail is flared out and ready to scoot the Shrimp backwards in case it has to "Get out of Dodge in a hurry."
The Grass Shrimp is tied on a 3/0 S.S. Mustad with an extended shank and is 3 1/2 " in total length. Its mounted on a white coral setting under a glass dome that measures 5.5 " x 5.5 " .
