Connecticut

My name's Bruce Marino, I own B-Mar Flies and have over 40 years fly fishing and tying experience, I have travelled to many destinations to fish for fresh and saltwater species.  However, Guiding on the “Crown Jewel” Farmington River and shore guiding the coastline of Connecticut are my passions. I’m well seasoned, very professional and your satisfaction is number one.

Guided fishing trips are customized to fit the individual angler or anglers up to 4 people. Some of the features of these guided trips can include stream reading, seining the river to identify insects, and casting instructions. Most of all for the beginner to intermediate angler, line control for proper presentation of the fly to the trout, knot tying and a general review of the flies used at the time of the trip. Full and half day guided trips are available; a delicious lunch and flies are included!

Maine

Whether you are looking for a memorable fishing, upland game, or big game experience, Grand Lake Stream and Weatherby’s specifically, is home to the greatest number of working fishing and hunting guides in the state of Maine without a doubt. Our guides understand that guiding is more than catching fish or shooting game.  They know that a great day in the field is defined by camaraderie, conversation and quiet woods skills that may go unnoticed. It is about creating an experience that you will remember year after year.  At Weatherby’s, our registered and licensed Maine Guides (known for having the most rigorous standards in the profession) strive to make your day in the field one that you will remember into the future and one that will stand out amongst all other guided days you might have had in the past.

World Class Smallmouth Bass, Landlocked Salmon, and Trout Fishing

Weatherby's has been a destination for sportsman for more than 100 years and the Grand Lake Stream Region of Downeast Maine is renowned for some of the best smallmouth bass, landlocked salmon, and lake trout fishing in the world! Restricted to fly fishing only since 1903, three-mile long Grand Lake Stream offers fantastic brook trout and salmon fishing with extended fall fishing until October 20th. We also fish dozens of pristine, undeveloped lakes for smallmouth bass, pickerel, yellow and white perch - providing quality fishing opportunities for anglers of all abilities throughout our season.

Whenever possible, all of our guides fish from locally designed and crafted Grand Lake Canoes, 20 feet long, 4 feet wide cedar plank and rib canoes with a square stern and outboard. They are unique to our region of Maine and will accommodate two anglers and guide comfortably. Included in your stay is a shore dinner if you fish with a guide. Our shore dinners are legendary and second to none, consisting of fresh caught fish, meat, potatoes, onions, fresh guide’s coffee and homemade cookies. At the end of the day, you will return home, but your stomach and soul will be full.

Guides are not required for you to hunt or fish in Maine, however we highly recommend one so you can maximize your time and experience in the field. Weatherby’s knowledgeable, skilled and professional guides are the best in Maine.
