Description: The Gurgler is not only a great surface fly when the stripers are feeding on top, it is also one of my favorite searching patterns when there are no visible signs of feeding fish. The fly looks like a wounded baitfish on the surface and can be deadly. This pattern was originated by Jack Gartside of Boston, a very innovative tyer. I tie it in a wide range of color patterns but the all white with a little flash is one of my favorites. "Custom Color" orders are welcomed! This fly also is very effective for freshwater bass.
"Custom Colors" can be ordered at the time of check-out. Please indicate in the "Notes" section, what colors you would like.
What it imitates: Baitfish on the surface
When to fish it: During surface feeding or.... when you want a searching pattern
Where to fish it: Beaches, flats and estuaries
How to fish it: Depending on conditions, I will let it dead drift in the current with just slight twitches or will retrieve it with intermittent strips and pauses. If you see a swirl of "nervous" water behind the fly as it pauses, hold on! Fish will often strike with the next slight movement of the Gurgler.
Approximate time to complete this order: 2 weeks
