Hook Size::
  (min 4)

Description:  The Hendrickson hatch is by far my most anticipated major mayfly hatch of the year in the tri-state area.  This pattern imitates two stages of the Hendrickson life cycle.  First, I tend to see a lot of emerging mayflies with their wings spent due to their struggle to break free from their nymphal shucks, hence the term cripple.  Second, this fly can be fished as a spinner pattern.  Dun snowshoe for the spent wings, Delong trailing shuck, rusty brown turkey biot abdomen and a pink fox blend for the thorax and is tied on a 1x long dry fly hook.

What it imitates:  Hendrickson cripple, spinner

Where to fish it:  Rivers and streams

When to fish it:  During an emergence or a spinner fall in the tri-state area rivers and streams between April 20 - May 15.

How to fish it:  As an emerger or a spinner, fish as a dry fly.  Try letting the fly float downstream, sink it once it passes your target, and wait a few seconds or so.

Minimum order for this pattern is 4 flies
