Description: I'm excited about this pupa pattern; it's the first time I ever offered it for sale on-line. For pressured fish there stands no equal to the Mercury 723. It has the ascending shuck, gaseous abdomen, wing buds, ice dub peacock throax and to top it all off a Mercury bead. Mercury beads have proven so effective on tailwaters that I had to incorporate them into some stillwater patterns and have found that the trout in lakes relish them as much as their moving water brethren.
What it imitates: Midge pupa
When to fish it: Late spring, summer, early fall
Where to fish it: Stillwaters
How to fish it: Under an indicator, but this fly shines as a top fly instead of the bottom fly. Remember this is an ascending pupa pattern and should be fished a little higher in the water column.
