Description: The slim body of the Naked Nymph coupled with the tungsten bead gets the fly down through the water columns and onto the bottom quickly where a majority of fish spend their time. Since it does not have a lot of materials to slow it down, it works well with many of the European Nymphing techniques that are gaining in popularity. The use of opposing colors of wire for the body represent the mottled affect that many aquatic insects posses. Pick up some Naked Nymphs and bring a few more fish to your net.
What it imitates: This pattern will imitate both mayfly nymphs and small stoneflies.
When to fish it: Anytime there is mayfly activity, especially in the early evening. Although, it will catch fish anytime of the year.
Where to fish it: Large rivers to small streams
How to fish it: In rivers it can be dead drifted under an indicator or used as one of the flies on a Czech Nymphing leader.
