Description: Norm's 4 Amigos are a must have for anyone fishing Western stillwaters, spring creeks or tailwaters. I developed these flies based on my number of years I've fished in numorous lakes and rivers in the West...they are productive.
Norm's Gray CDC was designed as a dual purpose pattern; Dun and Spinner. This is one of my most productive Spinners.
Norm's White CDC imitates the latter Dun stage of the Callibeatis. It is a dual purpose fly; you can wet the CDC and twist it into two wings and fish it as a Spinner when needed.
Norm's Hi-Vis Cripple is most effective when the hatch is just starting or for picky fish, espcially when the fish are just sipping the surface. The Fuchia Baitfish Emulator Flash I use for the wing is a hot new product of Harelin Dubbin. I tye this with Whiting Cree Cape and the mink fur body gives it a very natural look. The bright wing can be picked up easily by "tired" eyes as well as under low-light conditions.
Norm's Black CDC Caddis works well in the early morning when Caddis are out and about. The CDC used as hackle give the flies an amazing floating capability and they dry off quickly with a few false casts.
I use underfur of the Mink on all four dry flies. If you're serious about catching fish on any Western stillwater, tailwaters or spring creeks make sure you've got a good supply in your fly box!

When to fish it: Spring through Fall
Where to fish it: Stillwaters, Tailwaters, Spring Creeks
How to fish it: Floating lines and long leaders. Cast keeping a straight line, use an occational twitch to give it a live appearance. Casting to rising fish works very well.
