Description: Old Reliable is my "Go-To" pattern when fishing for Large and Smallmouth bass in the spring and summer. My best success consistantly comes from casting this pattern as close to available cover in any lake, pond, river or stream that holds bass.
What it imitates: Injured minnow or drowning insect
When to fish it: Spring, Summer or Autumn
Where to fish it: Lakes, Ponds, Rivers, Streams
How to fish it: Once the fly lands on the surface of the water, let it sit motionless until the water has settled. Retrieve it like you would any other popping bugs...making sure it makes a popping commotion on the surface of the water.
