Artist Note: The Painted Lady Butterfly, gliding through a meadow, is truly a unique item that pushes the envelop of artistic fly tying and presentation; this realistic butterfly pattern is beautifully displayed in a natural setting as if gently gliding across a meadow. The Painted Lady is tied using feathers from ringneck pheasant, guinea hen, woodduck, and lady amherst pheasant, layered to suggest the coloration and pattern of the natural. All of the components of the display are real, dried plants. The display is protected by a glass dome (not shown in the photo) that rests upon a solid oak base. Each butterfly dome I create is unique in its composition and components.
