Description: The Ramit is a universal fly which works for Bass, large Trout, Great Lakes Steelhead, critters on the Saltwater flats, and Mangroves. This fly becomes alive once in the water, with the large ram's wool head that pushes enough water to signal the quarry and the undulation of the rabbit tail that triggers the strike.
I tie the Ramit on a 2x strong saltwater hook which will not open while fighting the fish of a lifetime. I also tie the Ramit with the hook point up and a lead barbel near the hook eye which allows a swimming motion near the bottom without getting snagged.
What it imitates: Large tadpoles when fished in lakes and ponds; Sculpins when when fished in rivers and streams.
When to fish it: For Bass - Spring - Summer. For Trout: Most effective, spring time. For Steelhead: Anytime they're in the river systems
Where to fish it: Ponds, lakes, rivers
How to fish it: For Bass: Steady strips. For Trout: Swing along the bottom. For Steelhead: Swing
