Description: Fishing for salmon and steelhead can sometimes be a war of attrition in your fly box. I needed to have a stonefly pattern that I could quickly tie up to resupply myself and friends in the evenings; the result was Schmidt's Simple Stone. It incorporates the tell tale split tail with soft hackle legs for added movement. This fly has proven more successful for me than any other stonefly in recent years.
What it imitates: Stonefly nymph
When to fish it: Fall salmon and spring steelhead runs
Where to fish it: Generally fished low in the water column
How to fish it: Fish it at a dead drift, but at the end of the drift allow the fly to swing out. Many times the strike will come on the swing.
Approximate turnaround time to complete this order: Generally, 7 days
MINIMUM ORDER FOR THIS FLY IS 1 UNIT - 1 UNIT CONSISTS OF 1/2 DOZEN FLIES
