Description: The Soft Hackle Emerger is great when tied in tan, brown, green, or orange. It is excellent when caddis flies are on the water or simply as a searching pattern. The soft hackle has a life-like motion and the thorax in front of the soft hackle creates a natural shape that helps stimulate strikes.
What it imitates: Emerging caddis
When to fish it: Any time Caddis are emerging for most of the fishing season. It is also an excellent searching pattern.
Where to fish it: This fly is effective throughout the northeast and where-ever there are caddis flies.
How to fish it: The primary way to fish this fly is with a quartering cast downstream and keep a taut line- ready for a strike. However, I have found that casting upstream and a dead drift is also extremely effective.
