Description 

Description:  The Upper Delaware River has plenty of flying ants that make their appearance in late summer and fall.  Both smallmouth bass as well as our wild trout will feed on these morsels floating on the surface of the water.  This pattern borrows from Ed Sutryn's "McMurray Ant" except that foam is used instead of balsa wood.  Hackle is also wound parachute at the base of the head to insure that they fly lays on the surface film.  Please specify whether you want wing or not.  Wing is white Z-Lon for better visibility.

 

What it imitates:  Flying Ant

 

When to fish it:  Late Summer and Fall - Catskills / Upper Delaware River

 

Where to fish it:  Pools, Flats

 

How to fish it:  As a dry fly or tandem rig off an attractor.

 

Minimum order is 6 flies for this pattern
