Al Ritt

Al Ritt, owner of Al Ritt Flies - Flies that catch fish, began tying flies in earnest after moving to California in 1983. These early flies were tested in northern California on such world renowned waters as Hat Creek, Fall River, Pit River, Sacramento River and others. In 1989 he moved to the northern front range of Colorado, where he currently resides and fishes with wife and business partner Diana. You might run into Al fishing almost anywhere in Colorado or Wyoming, but he spends the majority of his time on the water in and around Rocky Mountain National Park, Red Feather, Colorado and Sylvan Dale Ranch just outside Loveland. Not coincidentally, Al also is a guide on the same water he fishes.

Al offers fly tying classes to individuals and small groups both independently as well as through local area fly shops. His relaxed style of teaching and humor makes him popular with his students. He’s consistently invited to appear at fly shop casting and tying demonstrations as well as fly tying expos throughout the West. Al and his flies have been featured in several fly tying and fishing magazines as well as numerous books. Make sure you “catch” his latest article, “Most Versatile Fly” in Hatches 2009 Fall issue!

MyFlies is fortunate enough to offer some of Al’s “signature” flies; which currently, are only being sold at a select few fly shops and a well known lodge in Mexico.
